4.9l Oil Leak
4.9l Oil Leak
Okay-
I am not an expert mechanic, but I have a limited knowledge and can usually use my head enough to fix things. However, I am having trouble understanding where an oil leak on my 95 4.9l is coming from.
I have pinpointed the leak to the drivers side of the engine where it appears that an electrical wire (maybe oil pressure gauge?) goes into the side of the block. Right above there, it leak massive amount of oil anytime the motor shuts off. It appears that there is plate or something bolting into the side of the motor there, but again, I am no expert. My question is, what do you guys think it might be? Is there a side plate with a gasket there? Is it an old delete plate? Is it coming from the heads?
Anyway, it pour oil out there whenever the truck stops. It is not smoking, nor is it sputtering or clanking, but i do have to add a good amount of oil every few days? Advice would be great!

There are side covers on these motors. They are the access covers for the lifters. They do have gaskets, and they will leak. Especially if someone has cranked on them to stop a leak. The covers will distort, and then the leak will be worse.
