I've got a 2006 FX4 SuperCrew with the 5.4L V8 and on my first tank I got about 10 mpg. My last few have been around 13 mpg. I drive it as easy as possible and it doesn't seem to be getting any better on the last couple of tanks. I've asked around and everybody keeps saying that it will keep getting a little better up until around 10,000 miles. Hell, that's the price we pay to drive what we drive. I've only got about 1,500 on mine right now and it seems to be getting a little bit better compared to that first tank, but nothing earth shattering by any means. The first tank scared me a bit too. Just give it time. Good luck!

My '06 Lariat 4x4 Supercab with 5.4L and 3.73 gears shows 12.6 MPG on the computer readout, this is with 98% city driving. I have a little over 1000 miles on it right now.

It always amazes me how different people's mileage reports are. I just got a new '05 F150 Supercab 4x4 5.4. I live in Minnesota where the cold weather wreaks havoc on mileage. But I've gotten 16 mpg out of my first 5 tanks. Go figure. Mine is pretty much highway. Not much short tripping; so that helps. My last tank was 15 mpg but my wife was using it to commute downtown and crawling through 25 mph stop and go traffic. I don't understand how they can be so different.

Over the past 15 years or so I have owned several 4 wheel drives,They all have gotten the same mileage,12-13 mpg.Didnt matter when it was a 4 cylinder,v6 or v8,foreign or domestic-always been about the same,Like others have said-It is the price we pay.

'06 Crew, 6.5' bed, 5.4L, 4x4, 3.73 dif, <1000 miles on my truck. Have filled it up 3 times so far. First tank was 13.5 mpg, Last one was 13.9 mpg. Roughly 2/3 highway and 1/3 city, but some of the highway miles are in slow moving traffic occassionaly. I don't drive with a heavy foot. No tonneau yet either.

we picked up a new supercab with 4.6 and 3.55 limited slip, 6.5 ft bed, 35.7 fuel tank, truck has 17" michelin tires, assembled in Norfork

first drove at 4 miles on the dial, put 35 miles to test prior to doing paper work, looking for shakes, vibration, drove 5 miile in city traffic, hit 9 stoplights before interstate, looped the city, 20 miles intestate speeds +/-, hit 12 stoplights between interstate and dealership, found all the lights and had to wait at all, a/c was on.

dealer had filled the tank full prior to test drive, we have not added any since the test drive, it has not left our hands

stopped at gas station tonight put in 10.2 gallons, would not take any more and we had truck angled to fully fill for the next test/driver
mileage now 184.6

on test drive speeds up 80mph, I have driven since acceptance, mostly interstate, with 5-10% city, since test kept to 65, drove 70-75mph for 20 miles on way home and gased up

appox. 18 mpg not bad for first try

hopefully it will get better

may be the rest will do the same

we will want ours from norfork, all the ones from kansas city and dearborn have cosmetic problems on the lots

I won't complain

may be we will be o.k when we order the 25 plus ford trucks
