Exclamation '05 5.4L Engine Problems...

I have an '05 F-150 SCREW XLT 4x4 and lately the engine at idle has been sounding like its missing.....Could this be????....Also, every once in awhile when I go to start my truck with the engine either warm or cold it won't start....When I crank it makes some clattering sounds and won't fire, almost like the timing is off....Today, I almost got stuck....I cranked twice and I got the clattering sounds and no fire....The third time it just cranked and cranked and I let off so as to not hurt anything else or kill the battery....So, I contemplated doing anything else and waiting a minute or two....Tried to start and the truck fired right up....Go figure....Anyone else been experiencing this problem?????????

'05? That should be in warrenty. That's a dealers problem. You haven't really put enough info in there to troubleshoot anything.
Sounds like you have 2 differnet problems:

1) "Could it be a miss?" Why yes, yes it could. Make sure all your plug wires are in tight. Ensure no vacuum leaks.

2) Starter clattering. Go to AZ and have them check you're battery. If your battery has a bad cell, it could cause those problems. Have 'em check your altenator also.

Good luck, and try and be more specific in your next post.

Might be bad plugs from the get-go; look what I had in my brand new 04 truck. Three of eight were like this

Honestly, I really don't have much more info.....It's random when it happens, and even my boss who has been working on trucks all his life has no idea what could be happening....I guess it also doesn't help that we can't find a OBDII diagnostic computer that will talk to my truck.....

Sounds like a dealer problem to me. Warranty should take care of this.
