testing 1992 ford without code reader
Is there a way to find the cause code of the check engine light by turning on and off the key to get a series of light flashes like you can on some older model manufactures such as dodge? were can I find what they mean?
On Ford, the answer is no.
But you can still do it.
At your test connector you will find a seperate lead with a connector.
Ground this lead.
Go into the cab and turn the ignition to run and wait a few seconds for the EEC to begin outputting the codes.
It will do this two or three times so you don't miss the codes but have a pencil and paper to record the codes.
There are to many codes to give hear so come back with your findings.
To clear KAM just begin the process again but disconnect the ground before it is done outputting; do not disconnect the battery.

Yes. Very easy. Just takes a paperclip and an operation CEL light.
Go to www.fordfuelinjection.com
Look over to the right side of the screed and located "how to run a self test". Code definitions are also listed for two and three digit codes. It takes a bit of practice to sort out the CEL flashes, but it's not hard.
The 92 may have either the two or three digit codes so be on the lookout for either flash pattern.

I find that a paperclip is cheap and it's really comfy to sit in the seat while watching the CEL.
With the audio or the blinking LED or CEL, you still have to pay attention and count the pulses.
