I have a 2002 Supercrew Fx4 with the 5.4. On a few occasions I've noticed this high-pitch squeal that comes from my engine. It has only happened when I've been going up a hill when I really gun it. It doesn't happen all the time (because for the most part I'm a pretty mellow driver). I use synthetic oil and always keep up with my changes. The only other thing I've done is put in a K&N filter and the exhaust. Anyone else have this happen to them? Any thoughts on what could be causing it? I've searched and can't find much of anything on this problem.

What condition is your fan belt in?

 

Regardless of its current condition (and it probably *looks* OK....) it's time for a new one. Find your local Troyer Perfoamance and order a Goodyear Gatorback belt for it. It'll take you 10 minutes to change and will undoubtedly solve the problem.

Unless you already did that, in which case, ignore me. :P
