Radiator on Roids

So after my 42# injectors and 90MM MAF went on, I drove home pissed off because the new tune is off. Next day, wife calls, green stuff pouring out from under engine. damit! Tell her to go home. I figure the damn heater core line got punctured while I was fighting the passenger side rail. Fire it up in the driveway, looks like its taking a whizz. Crawl underneath, coming from radiator...damit...Couldn't really tell exactly where, just knew it was lower drivers side somewhere around where the electric fan shroud sits. Of course, this being Sat afternoon at 6:30 on new years eve, I'm screwed. So I decided this morning to try some of that miracle in a bottle, leak sealer. Had some up at the shop so I went and got it. Said run the car 10 minutes with heat on, then add bottle and high idle until leak stops. Yeah I thought, right. (It also said at the botom in small print, if leak doesn't stop, repairs are necassary ) I disconnected the electric fans in an attempt to make it hot faster. I ran that motor for just over an hour, no fans, ac on high, reving constantly and it never even though of overheating. I was amazed that it could withstand those conditions without trying to at least come close. It never crossed over the middle of the guage. CHecked it on the scanner, highest I saw it get was 221`. And low and behold, the damn leak stopped. Reconnected the fans and let it run for another hour, not a drop of antifreeze. I'll be damned, the miracle in the bottle worked!

Be advised as well that stop leak tends to clog heater cores and thermostats, at least the BG branded stuff does IME.

omg...One thing i first learned in auto mechanics. There is no magic potion for anything.

The reason it made the leak stop is because it pluged it up right? Well now youve plugged just about everything else up inside your engine. Radiator, Thermostat, water pump, cooling lines, heater core, and all the little nooks and cranny's in your motor.

It may have saved you a few bucks now but dont be suprised with trouble down the road.

Ive always been tought that if something breaks, then you fix it the way its supposed to be fixed.

But its not my truck, so good luck.

Exclamation

all i have to say is be careful what you put in your radiator...

Had an older car in the family that sprung a leak and put some of that crap in and after that the heater never worked right.

Well, I had no choice. There was no driving it like that, and It had to get to the shop. And it seems that the part is a couple days out, none in stock here.
