Thanks for the advice, but in a panic/emergency, I am afraid, I did only what I could think to do in a couple of seconds. I was not thinking about anything except stopping the truck and not injuring my son or anyone else. I sincerely doubt, if it happened again--it won't with me as I WILL NOT drive this truck ever again except to a dealer to trade it--that I would react any differently. Thanks, anyway

Fishy or not, it happened. No floor mats to catch. Nothing. I probably would not have believed it either had it not happened to me

My thoughts exactly. This truck is gone just as soon as I can get rid of it. Luckily, I have a '92 Custom Cruiser as a back-up. I think I'll just be happy with it for awhile. Thank-you

Basically they installed a device that made it harder to get out of park, I mean I really had to give it a tug when it was first installed. But now it has loosened up a bit, but it's still tough. Call your Jeep dealer I guess.
I know about one of the six. A good friend of mine had a Grand Cherokee drive into his living room. His neighbor had started her Jeep and must have forgotten something inside. The Jeep slipped out of park into reverse, drove down the driveway, across the street and found itself a nice spot on the couch.

I have an '06 F150 XLT with a 5.4...the same thing happened to me....I was in slow traffic...my foot on the brake with about 11/2 car lengths behind the vehicle in front of me....all of the sudden the truck lurched and started to accelerate...luckily, I already had my foot on the brake and had plenty of room in front of me...after doing a brakestand and squealling the tires..I shifted into neutral...the problem corrected itself and hasn't happened since..knock on wood.....any more ideas out there????

Anna, again I'm sorry for you expirience, and wish you the best. Everyone who responded about the GC's, thank you, I don't think that I have anything to fear. Several years ago I brought it back to Jeep for a recall to install an interlock which prevents the vehicle from shifting into gear without the brake being applied. I just tested the hell out of it, and it seems to be working properly.

To: green06F150: please stay in touch as your experience sounds identical to mine. Will you continue to drive the truck?

now this is weird reading about the jeep Cherokee here. I was just watching cops on FX and a jeep just did that exact same thing. the guy started it and it took of. he didn't put it in gear or hit the gas. when he turned the key off it kept going till it hit a fence.

Not saying nothing happend to these Fords but be reminded of the following;
You ALL know that the throttle body HAS to open and admit air to the engine for it to develope any amount of power in any type of event like this.
The 06 wire throttle possibly could do this without help from inside the cab if there were other circumstances involved.
Even Cruise Control could cause this by malfunction of the Accel circuit.
So it's not time to dismiss this yet.
The best efforts of engineering to prevent this sometimes fails.
Certinaly a dealer will never be able to handle this kind of problem if never seen before and has no factory guidence.
This is a very serious matter just like Cruise Control fires.
Those of you that are sure you had the experience should send a registered letter to Ford so they and you know they were informed.

Yep and FASTER can do things we can't do like nail "jello" to a tree.

I think Faster150 was trying to say that due to what happened she could have put some flat spots on some tires and maybe ruined some brake pads.

I don't know if that is the case or not, but I believe that is what he was trying to convey.

And I bet you can nail jello to a tree if you freeze it and then drill a hole in it for the nail.
