Damn, these things are fast

I was wondering what the stock HP and Torque numbers were for the 1998 Expedition 4.6L. I've had my truck for quite some time now, and all I have to say is this thing has *****. I'll punch it from a stop and up to 4800 RPM's then 2nd and then I'm gone. I bring this up because last night I was coming home and was going up a long hill and was doing about 35 then i punched it and it dropped gear and it planted me in the back of my seat!!!

Hey. Stock Horsepower For A 1998 Expidition 4.6 Liter is about 210 Horsepower.
But from the sound of it, it doesn't sound like you have a stock engine. I have a Triton 5.4 With A Few Upgrades Probably putting me around low 300(s) HP. And It gets me to 60 in about a little over 7 seconds. I bought the truck with the upgrades already on it. And I am thinking it has a chip somewhere in it. Because supposedly F-150's aren't usually that fast.

But Hey, if it puts you back in your seat with a stock engine, good for you.

Does your engine has any noticible mods? Air filter, flowmaster, etc. My f-150 is quite fast aswell, but I have done pretty much no REAL mods to it, it runs quite good and it hit the 157k miles mark yesterday

Everything is stock that I know of. it just rolled over to about 144k too. It was originally owned by a Corp Fleet service, so I don't believe it has mods what so ever, its just quick

1998 Expedition 4.6L is rated at 215hp@4400 rpm and 290 ft-lbs@3250 rpm.

I can't find the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for a 98 4.6, but i did find them for a 98 5.4L expedition, which has 15 more hp and 35 ft-lbs of torque more.

0-60 for the 5.4 is 9.1 seconds
1/4 for the 5.4 is 17.0@80 mph.

So...those are times with a bit more power than yours.

Not exactly what I would call "fast". Not sure what you're used to driving, but there's not many verhicles that are much slower.

There are rare times a vehichle will display good power considering what it is and compaired to others like it.
Saw this several times in the past.
I have an 02 SCREW that runs real good overall but is stilll not of race caliber by any means but just good and acceptable in throttle response and towing power for a 5400 lb 4.6 with 3.55 gear.
I suspect the factory PCM programming and engine tolerences have stacked up in your favor just like I got what I consider a good one.

Compared to my moms 03 Exploder Sport(4.0 V6). Mine would whoop it even considering the power to weight ratio. I have driven many different cars, and even though mine is not faster then some, but it very quick compared to others. My Uncles 5.4 F-150 was nice, but I'd still keep a lead on it.

seems like big vehicles feel fast with a litltle power even when they're not
my friend's celica weighs like 10 pounds so it feels like it's slow as hell.. but it runs 2-3 seconds quicker than my 4.6 f150 in the 1/4
I can't imagine a lightning

Haha, a Lightniing. I was next to the one the other night, he had a sticker in his window that said got boost? So I figured he was charged so on the green we both punched it, I kept up with him for about 50 feet or so, then I heard the sqeal of the charger and he was gone.

That is what I was thinking. Sure they have decent accelleration and go pretty good for a big heavy truck but they are like turtles from a dead stop. That's what my hot rods are for.

i agree...fast is relative

My friend has a beater '77 GMC with a 350 engine turbo 350 tranny and np203 transfer case, gm 10 bolt...the engine blew as did the tranny...so now it has almost new powertrain. It feels fast as hell..like a camaro or something... but i race him with my 94 f150 E4OD 8.8/3:55 and a borg warner t case..dont know exact model...but anyways his truck feels much much faster but mine whips his ***. maybe its his shift kit that gives the illusion but i think fast is just relative to the vehicle as well.
