Hard Start/Stall/Rough Idle update

If you remember my first post on the subject I wanted to give an update...(https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=217088) I am having the above issues with my 05 5.4 with 4700 miles on it. The tech said it was the poor quality of the Oregon oxygenated fuel I was using and I would have to live with it until spring when they switched back to regular fuel.

I decided to head up to Washington to get some non-oxygenated fuel and better quality (Chevron.) After four tankfulls, the problem was slightly better, but still there. I brought it back to the dealership, who will be doing a "carbon removal" on the engine, which will take two days. I asked if they were sure about that and Service writer said that the tech had seen similar problems and wanted to try that first.

We will see if that helps any...but I am not sure I am buying the carbon buildup theory after only 4500 miles...any thoughts on it?

If theres that much carbon after only 4500 miles, thats scary. Honestly, I dont believe it though that bad gas is the cause of all of our rough idles. Describe your rough idle if you would. Thanks

Well, the idle is even by looking at the tach, but you can feel it in the steering wheel and the body when it is running rough. This isn't something that happens all the time either...there does not seem to be rhyme or reason to it. Same with the stalling. The truck will fire for a second, then stall. To get it to start take a 2-3 second crank.
