Cams for I-6

I wanna get a little more hp outta my 300ci I-6 and i was wondering what cams are best for mid-range to top end performance, also what cams are good for bottom end to midrange performance?

This reminds me of a fellow I met a few years ago with an E150 that had replaced the 4.9L with a 4.9L engine out of an industrial application. The guy said he loved it had good performance and good mileage, however; a totally different torque range than the 4.9L for a truck application.

No kidding, I listened to the engine as he drove away and it sounded like the one in a big wood chipper.

the big problem with the I-6 is the amount of flow in through the heads, if your gonna change the cams maybe consider porting and polishing the heads too.

Crane has several good grinds, as well as Comp Cams.

For mid to high RPM, the Crane H-272-2, features good power from 2500 up to 5000 RPMS with exhaust and intake/Carb upgrade.

The Crane H-192/2667-2S-12 is a really nice cam, and will really respond to Exhaust and Intake/Carb upgrade.

I ran both of these cams in my 83 F150 4X4. The second was put in a stock motor, and she ran great. I added an Offenhauser intake, and a 2-bbl Holley, and it would still pull stumps, and had very good accerleration.

Pulled that motor at 200K, and put in a rebuilt with the bigger cam, MAC headers, the Offy intake, and a 390 Holley Spreadbore. Wasn't a stock 350 Chevy, or 351 Ford, or a 360 Dodge, that I couldn't outpull, or outrun! And I got great gas mileage too. What a great motor that was. Again, the key is the exhaust and the Intake/carb. No porting or polishing, just a good 3 angle valve job.
