engine cuting out at 65

I am a new ford owner. I just purchased a 2002 F150, 5.4L crew cad. I absolutely love this truck. The problem is today on the interstate. I am running 65 the engine and lights shut off. I coast to a stop start the engine and it does it again. This time it doesn't start. I wait approxiamtely 5 minutes the engine starts and no more problems. I figure it is a speed sensor or an ign. sensor. Does anyone have any opinions?

I can't see how the speed sensor would cause that. Really, I can't see any sensor causing that... Did the CEL come on at all? Any stutters, surges, grinding, sqeakling around that time? Was the temp gauge in the normal zone? Where are you in GA?

No shutters, just the tach and the speedometer went dead. the truck was just like before I start the truck when all the lights come on. I have put approx. 1500 miles on it since I bought it. Changed the oil last weekend.

Damn dude, the most difficult problems to find are intermittant ones. Keep driving it (no road trips) and see if something fails hard. If you're CEL light comes on, take it to Autozone immediatly. Other than that, I can't tell you much.
Oh, I live in Southeast, Ga, Camden County. I have an autotap scanner, but thats a little too much of a drive...

did the tach spedo and everything go dead all at the same time?

If so I'm thinking maybe a loose or corroded battery cable. You hit a bump just wrong it cuts EVERYTHING electrical. If some electrical stuff was still working this isn't it, but it's a thought.

Yes, that is what I did today was clean all that up. A friend has the exact same truck except a 2001. His did the same thing. Come to find out we had both filled up at the same gas station. So what I think is since the hurricanes came through Georgia is allowing sub-standard gas that is not as quality. Somehow this is messing with the emmision system. Anyway I haven't had anymore problems.
