98 expo, 4.6l 4x4 O/D light

Ok, so I have a same, the issue @ hand is this. No problems with shifting, generally it's cold here in Central Oregon so Temps get to single digits @ times. No codes, 1 pending mass evap leak, but check engine light isn't on. Doesn't hesitate one bit, so im at a complete loss on what the actual issue could be. Could it be the stupid torque converter? I'm looking @ diff Trans from jegs as there's some cool kits out there for this rig, but the converters are pretty expensive, like $600+

If the OD light is flashing, you need a OBD2 code reader that can read Ford transmission codes. Do you have a 4R70W or E4OD? What is the exact pending code?

Look at the door jamb sticker, TRANS code E is E4OD, U is 4R70W.

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

Possible Solutions
With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

Not all OBD2 scanners can read Ford transmission codes. Generally, you have to spend close to 100 bucks unless you get a ELM327 adapter and use a laptop with Forscan or a phone with Torque Pro.

Ok so Trans is the 4R70W, I figured that the mass evap was a bad gas cap "not factory" so ill get a new one of those, also, I actually use torque pro off my phone, cool little gadget, no transmission codes being thrown. Its weird, normally the OD light flashes when i firat start it in the morning, goes away within 5 mins, doesnt normally turn back on until its back to cold. Temp on the trans isnt very high, about 120

120 is actually too cold. 195 is normal.
