Blinking "Serve Engine Soon"

Hello everyone got a quick question I'm sure you guys can answer.

Have a 2001 F150 74K, today going to work my "service engine soon" light started to blink and did so for about 15 seconds...after that it went off but my truck had started to get the "shakes" and although the light was off it continued.

I read the owners Manual that says it's missfiring, question is since there is no light on can Autozone still read a code and tell me which cylinder is missfiring? I know it could be a cracked plug, bad coil, that cause the shakes but when this has happened the light stays on. so I'm wandering why the blinking this time and crapy performance. ANy suggestions would be great.

Yes, AutoZone can read the stored code (if the drone behind the counter knows how to use the scan tool).

Get the code(s), then SEARCH or post.
