2000 4.2 6 cyl maint
I tried to locate an answer to my ?? with the search feature- but no luck
my 2000 F-150 with 4.2 6 cyl( 4X2) is now 5 years old with 43K miles
I plan to winterize it in the next few weeks
my question is:
should I replace all the hose's under the hood - some years back( in the "old" days) , all belts and hose's were replaced at 4years/40K miles as a rule of thumb
I talked with my local ford parts person who told me the " fuel group" hose's were designed to last 25 years, the vacuum hose's should not need to be replaced as they are now made of a thick plastic( not flexable rubber)
my serp belt has no sign of wear( cracks etc) and the parts person said he hasnt sold many ( if at all) radiater hose's for my year /model( the heater hose's show no sign of problems either)
I want to do this right the 1st time, but not throw money away
has anyone else replaced any of the above mentioned parts/ had any problems with them
would appreciate your input
thank you
Bob Brewer

At 100k miles (almost a year ago) I replaced my upper and lower radiator hoses along with the bypass hose.I also replaced my t-stat.All of the above were still in good shape but I dont like surprises!
You might want to replace the serpentine belt.Keep the old one under the seat, just in case!
