I`m the one that had/has the 1506 error code on the 97 f150 4.6.
Been through 2 new iac`s in the last few days. Still getting the 1506 error code.
Today, i was told by a friend that owns a repair shop that sometimes, on the bottom of the throttle body can be carbon built up blocking the air or, vaccum port. he said to remove & clean it. I removed it, wasn`t very dirty but cleaned it & blew through with compressed air. Light was on to start with.
after doing so, disconnected the neg cable for about 8 min`s. now light is off.
after doing so, i drove about 3 mi`s light back on. Back off to the auto parts store to get code read. 1506 auxillary idle control speed sensor. Is this same as the iac? he cleared the code, i disconnected the negative cable again for about 5 min`s gave me another iac, i installed it there.
drove home all is ok
although,,
The guy at the parts house told me that 97 - about 2000 or 01 were notirous for egr valves with built up carbon triggering the check eng lights. so when i got home, i removed the egr valve, wasn`t terriblly dirty & the diaphram would hold a vaccum. put it back on drove to store & back (about 3 mi`s) just about to turn it off & the check engine light pops on.
Am i missing something? is there an aux speed control somewhere? I`m about ready to torch it!
Thanks for any suggestions or is that one of them ? :^)

Sorry it took so long. Neal pointed this post out to me and I went home and looked it up. The 1506 coad is an Idle air over speed error. It is set when the PCM sees an idle speed that is greater than the commanded speed. Your IAC is damaged or the circuit is shorted to ground.
First Inspect the entire intake air system from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor to the intake manifold for damage or leaks. Cracked or punctured intake air tube, loose or cracked IAC air tubes, loose intake air tube at the air cleaner housing or throttle body, IAC valve or gasket seal, Intake manifold assembly or gasket seal, EGR valve gasket seal, Vacuum supply connectors and hose, PCV valve, connectors and hose. Have a look at the Throttle body butterfly valve. Does it close all the way?
