From: Erie,
Engine smoke

I have a 2005 f-150 with 5000 miles on it. When i start it up it will smoke for a second or two. Should I be concerned about this or is it normal? Thanks

2005 Should still be under warranty I say get that S.O.B. to the dealer and make them fix it!

Its prolly just moisture blowing out. when it cools off from the last time you drove it moisture collects in the engine and exhaust. All vehicles do this. its more noticeable in colder weather.

White smoke, moisture
Blue smoke, oil
Black smoke, rich condition.

White smoke at startup is normal in cold weather, blue smoke at startup that goes away is bad valve seals, blue smoke does not go away, bad rings.

It's all in how you read the smoke!

Good luck. Hopefully it's just moisture.
