Torque Converter Clutch Switch Error
I have a 2002 f250 4x4 XLT 5.4 l Triton motor with Automatic Trans Crew Cab with 30000 miles on it. Got an engine light and took it to my local mechanic. He checked the codes and the trouble shooter that comes with it and it said that there was a problem with the torque converter clutch switch. It further said that there was a problem with the electrical feed or ground. He reset the computer and I have been driving it a couple of days and it hasn't duplicated itself. Torque converter seems to lock up OK at highway speeds. Anyone have an idea what might have happened? If the switch needs to be changed is this something that you have to take the whole drive train out to accomplish or can you remove the pan and valve body to do it?

If it needs a TCC solenoid, this can be serviced by removing the trans pan only.
An '02 with 30,000 miles though, may be under warranty by date. Check with your local Ford store, or post your VIN here and I can check.
