What are the differences between F-150 4.6s and Mustang 4.6s 2v.
Do the F-150s have the same HP potential as the Mustangs.
Any info would be appreciated.

No, I know my motor is a SOHC where as a Mustang motor is a DOHC. The mustang motors have differnt heads. The mustangs also make their power at a higher RPM.

 

The block is the same casting, albeit made from aluminum. The heads are different, however. Most obvious is the 2 valve in the F-150 heads versus the 3 valves in the GT. It would be interesting to see if my F-150 would accept the engine from my '05 Gt, not that I'd really want to do it. If it's the same block, it should use the same mounts.

 

Its the old gt motor which was a sohc, and it dumbed down. Different cam and intake.

 

Only the Cobra's are DOHC. All others are 4.6 SOHC if they're a V8.

I was just curious, I saw an article in Ford Builder mag that compared different manifolds for 4.6s and one of them was a truck manifold. The others were, Ford Racing Bullit and PI Mustang GT. I have seen a few custom manifolds to, thought it would be a good mod for powah and looks
(the custom ones).
