I have a 2003 4.2L in my truck and i want to get a swap for a 5.4L, it that possible? I have the same body as a lightning so i dont see why it wouldnt fit, but what else would i have to buy other than the engine, and is installation even possible? Thanks

 

You'd be better off buying a whole truck, wrecked of course, then taking what you need. Tranny, computer, wiring, alot. I don't know about motor mounts

Why not just put a turbo on and build your 4.2? It has almost as much Hp as my 4.6...Probably more torque. Plus everybody has a 5.4, not everybody has a built 4.2.

Just a thought.

 

I have a friend who started to do just that, convert a 4.2 to a 5.4. That was over two years ago. He gave up on it and bought a used 5.4. he said it cheaper and better to just buy what he wanted. Anyone want to buy a used 150 with a 4.2? Just kidding, it's not my truck.
