PCV/Breathing your own farts
OK, I've read tons of posts about pcv systems, oil vapor separators and clogged egr ports on the intakes and still haven't seen any definitive results. First of all do we really need to be recirculating these fumes into our trucks intakes? (other than for pollution control) (btw I have a non-supercharged engine) it seems to me kind of like breathing your own farts. Will I lose any performance by simply putting a breather on the valve cover? (no emissions testing here) and other than removing some oil, do the inline vapor traps offer any real fuel economy/performance gains?
I just cleaned out my (very clogged) egr ports on my intake, thanks to all the posts on this site I've saved hundreds if not thousands in repairs! thanks to all!!!

Important reason
All seals (rear main) are designed to run with engine crankcase under slight vacuum, if you remove the PCV valve the engine crankcase will no longer run under vac. and the seals will not ****ion right-------that means leaky rear mains and various other leaks. As for performance these fumes are combustible and probably add to performance (minute amount) in relation to atmosphere

EGR ports clog from by-products of burned fuel, not PCV oil.
The only benefit of oil separators is for keeping the aftercooler clean in supercharged engines. The Lightning needs to filter both PCV and Crankcase. My aftercooler is before the TB so I only have a separator on the Crankcase vent (drivers side).
BTW don't you know most people secretly like to smell their own farts... :o

I took all that stuff off (yes I know, quit referencing the effing mustang) my 89 stang, and just like they said I had a rear main seal leak in under 5000 miles, and that was a fresh motor. Man, was I pissed. But, I did later take off the smog pump and basically all other vacuum related componentry and replace the pcv on there
