2001 5.4L Starts and Stalls immediately- intermittant

My S-Crew will fire up normally but will stall instantly at times. Just like the fuel is cut-off. If it starts to die and I tap the gas quickly enough, I can catch it before it dies and it runs fine. I have had it do it in the garage when cold and in a store parking lot when I know the engine is warm. I recently changed fuel filters but it had done it a few times in the past. Now it has gotten worse- If I don't catch it right away, I'll have to cycle the key twice and then push the pedal down a bit to get it to start. I have never touched the pedal before in a fuel injected vehicle and I don't like it now.

I saw a post on the IAC for cleaning. I'll try that but what else should I look for?

sounds like the IAC to me; just be sure before you replace it.

That was what mine was doing exactly and I cleaned the IAC and it has worked perfectly since.

Have you had the battery disconnected recently?

My '97 would stall and act wacky like that until the computer reset it's idle settings.

Well, here is what I did...

I pulled the idle motor and cleaned it- it wasn't all caked up or anything like that but it had a fine layer of carbon on it. I gave a few shots of carb cleaner and scrubbed the shaft with a small brush. I cleaned the throat of the throttle body and reassembled everything. It started normally and ran fine. That was yesterday. It started normally this morning as well but it didn't always screw up on start up. So, I'll have to give it a week or so to see if it is fixed. But it seems to be running fine right now. Thanks to all who gave suggestions- I appreciate it.
