I'm going down to pay for it today so they can start removing it.

Before I pay, I want to make sure it turns over ok. I didn't bring my tools along to work so I'm going to go buy a breaker bar to turn it. I don't remember the size of the hole. Is it 1/2" or 3/8" drive?

Ok, I didn't buy it when i said i was going to in the last post. Good thing too, they dropped the price down to 1100! Core charge is 50 so I just paid it and am keeping the old motor to tear it down and see what happened.

But my question now is, how heavy is this thing? I have a ranger as my DD and an hoping to throw it in the back of that to get it home. I'm not real worried about the weight cuz I think the ranger can handle it, just wanted to make sure. Another thing, how do I secure this thing? I've got ratchet straps and all, but does the motor just sit on the oil pan, or do I need to set some sort of temporary mount or something?

Thanks!

I'm not sure of the entire weight of the engine but when I had mine out it was on a 700# stand and it was bowing it just a bit. In other words these things are heavy as hell!!! If I'm not mistaken I believe someone told me that the Ford Modular V-8's are some of the heaviest small blocks ever invented.... but you know how that stuff can go... anyway, yea it's heavy.

If you are still in need of a good motor I have one just sitting on the stand.
2001 5.4 45,000 miles. Good running unit only reason removed was to move on to better things.

Ok, it's sitting in the bed of my ranger.

They stripped everything off the front of it, and took the throttle body and exhaust manifolds. Several coils are gone, along with a few injectors. I can swipe those off the old motor though.

Should I tear this thing down before installing it to check it out and put new seals/gaskets on? Or leave it alone?

What would some of you guys that do this on a regular basis do to it?

What else should I be prepared to buy? I know I need new hoses, is there a kit with everything in it?

Thanks for the help everyone!
