Throttle Body Spacers for 4.6L F-150 / Do they work ????

Was wondering if the Airraid or Similiar throttle bodt spacers actually work and in what area. Around town or towing on highway ?????

What Brand is everyone going with ????

Is it noticable on the 4.6L ?????

I have a direct flow K&N , Electric Fans , 3in exhaust !

Any other small things i can do to get some more out of it ????

Thanks Guys,

I've read a lot of posts by members here and at FTW that installed them. Most said they did nothing for performance. Most removed them because they create a weird, annoying, whistling noise.

Put a PowerAid on mine...The only AID it provided was a whistle. Fun to play with though. Sounds like a Turbo boosting up....Key word there SOUNDS I also asked Mark at TrixtersRacing, He said that it didn't help nor hurt the power of your engine. He did mention the added power when modified like Neals. Think thats an Awsome idy

What modifications are to Neals?. Is that a Nitrous Injector ?

Corey, you should really consider getting rid of the stock fan and move to a electric one. Let alone it helps the bottom end, you have alot of extra room in front of the engine for working. I was so happy to get rid of that shroud and fan just to be able to get to other items to play with.

I went with a single 16 from Zirgo Fans that pulls 3980cfm ( ZF16U )and its really quiet compared to the duals that Flex-a-lite sells. They pull 30amps. I also installed 2 10inch S-Blades infront of the condensor that only draw 6amps each to run with the ac on. Im using Flex-A-Lites VSC controller for the main cooling fan so it kicks on at only 60% speed to reduce load on the system. Then bumps to 100% at 5 degrees above the set temp. get it from Summit Racing if you go with one. Kragens and other places wanted 125.00 and Summit had it at 70.00.

Im just finishing the custom tray that im building where the washer bottle went thats going to hold my Viair Compressor and fan controllers.

If anyone knows of a Volant Air Box sitting around, i would like one. I have the K&N set-up with out a heat shield and would like to find a BOX only to adapt to it.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Kenny

lol yes i ported mine out to dunno if i got any gain but better then lettin it go to waist in theory it should help the tq numbers abit with it ported out but i havent noticed any difference other then a throatier intake sound. and if ur going with efans all u need is a single that moves 2800CFM minimum im going to get a single 16" and mount center front of the condensor to free up some under hood room.

VEGASMAN,

Yeap...Pretty sure that's NOS I've already planned on gettin E-Fans. I still haven't rounded up everything for the Charger install. Got to lookin, I think I'm missing some or have the wrong hardware for mounting. I got a checklist from procharger to check. Little at a time....

Are you chargered? What where you going to do with the Volant Box?

Thanks for the Fan info!

No Supercharger. Just the old worthless (at making power) 4.6L with 95K on it.

I WILL say this though. Since i have owned this truck in 2000 with 15K on it ( and mind that it was a dealerships rental that im sure was used to pull out tree stumps and other sort of rough jobs) ,

I have ran out of gas 8 times on the highway or around town and was ALWAYS able to keep shutting it off and restarting it to make it to the station. NEVER had to walk once.

2nd, ive have had NO-LEAKS from the engine ANYWHERE in its whole life until recently im noticing alittle residue rolling down the rear of the heads or the rear main. The only thing i have changed in 95k is the Power Steering Hose last week that the o-ring started seeping and the alternator last week. The alternator would give out at 4300 rpms but still worked great below that.

Even the darn Wussy transmission has Pulled a 26ft Warlock Offshore Boat, My jet boat at 75mph all day long to the river, and 75 sand bags with the rear completely slammed up the mountains 7 thousand feet up.

Ive been Extremely Lucky with this boy and im fixing it up for my son when he turns 16. But thats 4 years away, so im still beating it up when i can.

Tomarrow its getting a 3in body lift, rear air bags, Viair compressor for the airhorn and bags, 35 Baja Claws, Strobe Light system in all four corners, and when i find them, some really cool and comfortable Bucket seats.
