Engine/Trannie/Clutch?
Engine/Trannie/Clutch?
Starting today, my truck started having issues. I was driving along and all was well. I pulled over to the side of the highway to fix some stuff in the bed. When I started driving again, I noticed a 'heaving' motion as I drove. The truck was tugging every second or so going down the road. Although it could have been coming from anywhere, I felt most the pull mostly in the lower back of the bench seat. This has been continuing all day, when ideling, when accelerating, but not so much when keeping constant speed. We checked out the drivetrain and didn't notice any major problems. The only thing we discovered were a couple bad engine mounts. The guys I was with at the time thought for sure that was the problem, or at least a good start. I just got back home after my 2nd highway trip of the day. When I got to the house, I took another gander. At this point, it seemed to me like there was a problem with the exaust gas. The exaust didn't sound constant but rather went in seemed to have an exaust gas buildup or something. I checked out the engine and the engine seemed to have a slight vibration in tune with the exaust sounds, but no real engine mount movement. Anyway, there's my broad description. What do ya'll think?
For Archive/Search Purposes I wanted to post my final results on this long running issue. I finally resolved it this weekend after months and months of the annoying problem.
I can't be certain exactly what fixed it, but here's what I did in an afternoon that ended the problem...
New Spark Plugs (No signs of bad wear)
New plug wires
New distributor cap
New rotor
Clean air filter.
Hope this can oneday help someone with a similar issue.
