I want to pull

I have a new quad and also pull a boat (19.5') fiberglass. I would like to be able to tow the boat while quad is in box without harming anything or having the enging heat-up. Can you give me some information. My truck is a 1999 ford f150 with a 5.4. It has headders, cat back gibson exhaust, helix power tower, and a super chip. Currently the maching heats quickly when working ...

Take the chip out.
Have the radiator tested for flow rate and put new thermostat in to be sure it's opening, their cheap.
I tow 11,000 lbs total GCW with a 4.6 without a problem using a stock unmodified truck..
I'm sure you don't want to hear it but::::::::::
You don't need all that other stuff. It's not helping your towing at all.
Reality is coming home to roost.
Good luck.

No need for fans either. Towing a 19.5' boat with a quad in the bed should be little work for that 5.4.

I regularly tow a 7000# load with mine and it has no problems whatsoever.

You should be able to tow a 19 foot boat and haul a quad with NO problems in stock form. I see you have some mods done and all should contribute to performance...what Super Chip do you have? Is it "Tow" safe or is it programmed for performance. I tow a 25 foot 5000lb boat....NO problem

Define " The machine heats quickly when working". Are you overheating....spitting coolant from the degass bottle. Have you checked the coolant level? Is the cap installed properly or in need of replacing? Is your coolant at the correct 50/50 mix?

Hi Bob800,

That is a nice number. What were the conditions when you did this? When I ran mine it was about 30F and about 2" fresh snow on the ice.
Are you picked? I'm running 144 pics so that is probably not helping my top speed any. This was also done with 6000 rounds on the clock, so I wouldn't say it was too bad for a high mileage sled.
Your speed of 108 with a stock 600 is awesome!

I wonder how many people hate that we hijacked this thread to talk about a COLD weather sport in the midst of summer time! The snow will be back before we know it!

Not to sound rude but Bluegrass and myself told you in your last post about "overheating when pulling" and what steps to take. Have you done any of these as of yet? Honestly, I think its your radiator or your detonation problem.

rad is fine....cleaned it very well. Although now I am getting codes saying misfire and O2 sensors faulty. I am gonna leave it over night in hopes it will dry a little but might need to replace sensors. As for the heat.....the rad was muddy......... any ideas about the wettness? anyone else have similar problems after washing entire engine? What do you recomend?

When you do things like that, there not much else to say! Your not hearing anything anyway.
Good luck.

How did we go from overheating to engine cleaning? Dry it out by placing engine in a tanning booth for two-hours and don't forget the SPF30.

"any ideas about the wettness"....I use Goldbond in the green bottle.
