If I get an aftermarket water temp gauge do i mount it where the coolant temp sensor was, Or where?, if yes what do i do with the electrical coolant temp sensor, doesnt the engine need that for the computer to read acuratly?

Has anyone had success in heat wrap tape or believe that it works?
(1991 F-150 302ci, 2wd, 5speed)
