Should I buy this engine

My 99 4.6W f150 has the notorious pass. side head gasket leak and I'm ready to replace the engine. I talked to a guy that sells engines and he sent me the email below. Does this all sound right and do you guys think its a good deal. Thanks for any input.

"59k miles $775 plus freight for a 96 Ford Crown Vic engine. Long block is the same as your trucks engine. Would possibly have to use the intake/exhaust manifold off your existing enigne. "

Personally, I wouldn't go with an engine that old for a 99 model truck. Could run into more problems than it's worth. But that's just me.

too old of motor?

greetings,

my 2002 4.6 spun a main or two. i found a 2002 5.4, and it was almost a direct replacement, even used the 4.6 harness. spent a little bit more and got a 7k mile motor with a lifetime warranty from a local used parts broker that has been around for 30+ years. WARRANTY MEETS SHOP RATE, WITH PARTS! I think i can even get the heads repaired/replaced if a plug blows out. the warranty was 40% of the total price. even got to keep the 4.6, incase i get to feeling adventurous and bored. just food for thought....

I'd just look around and get one maybe a year older or a year newer, but not quit that old. With the 99, you should be able to go up a few years (2002 probably). Good luck!

[EDIT]
Oh yea! Try eBay. I think I found a couple of engines on there the last time I looked. Might be able to get a good deal there. Couldn't hurt, right?
[END EDIT]

You know what, I couldn't help myself. I was so bored I did the eBay searching for ya. Found a few engines you might be interested in, depending on how much you want to pay.
