no pic but it's on the back of the engine. If im not mistaken it has 2 7mm bolts holding it on. Cant miss it. It has a little cylinder on top of it.

This is a pic of the throttle body. See the IAC? I got this pic from somewhere else, so sorry for all the extra crap. BTW, I'm not sure, but I think that some throttle bodies are different and the IAC is at a different part of the TB, but it still looks exactly the same.

I've found it's easier to remove the TB elbow and then take the IAC off.
Its also a good time to clean the EGR ports as well as any other places where theres crap built up.

I don't know about the 5.4, as I've got a 4.6, but i just took the IAC off. Easy as anything else. Sprayed some carb cleaner in it really good and a little down the ports and so far, my truck hasn't quit on my like it had been doing. Cleaning it is probably all it needs.

yeah the 4.6 is alot easier. The IAC is on the top of the engine rather than in the back like the 5.4. It is really worth it to clean the EGR ports if you do have the IAC taken off. GO ahead and spend the extra hour. ITs really worth it.

i take a test tube cleaner, or a gun barrel cleaner and go after my EGR ports then i polished the main inlet for the EGR as best i could with the dremel and wire brush to keep any excess from sticking and gunking up again

The IAC on the 5.4 is a good deal more difficult to get to than it is on the 4.6.

Talking IAC was a BAD AZZ

I took the IAC off of my 03 5.4 Screw and it was nothing nice. I used a 1/4 inch drive rachet and 5/16 socket. It was extremely slow going with little room to work the rachet. Once I got it off the new one when on in little or no time. The bolts went all the way in by hand. My old on was not dirty at all, just had some carbon build up on it. I changed the pvc valve also. Now I will see if my mpg goes back up to where it was. I would recommend a long flexible extention to anyone performing the job.
