I placed my stock throttle body with a mac 75mm. The problem is that the the throttle linkage doesnt allow the spring to flip all the way back keeping the rpms at around 2000. So just to get home i pulled the linkage wire out of the mount it has and zipped tied it so i would flip all the way back and allowing for normal rpm levels. anyone have the same problem. please help

Nah the install was really easy. the only problems i had was the sensor on the side of the throttle body. The two screws were really hard to get off so i had to use pliers and then buy two new screws at a local hardware, and the throttle linkage.I havent used the pulleys but i do have the AEM intake and with the two together they add some powere and a kewl *** sound. I cant complain about anything b/c i got everything for $350 and thats with shipping

 

take a picture of the problem u are describing ive never heard of it and cant actually picture ur problem the throttle body replacement is a direct swap.. u will wanna port ur plenum to match it though or u rwont see much gain over the stock throttle body.

by port you mean basically remove enough material from the plenum mouth to ease the trensfer of air between the TB and the runners?

does the plenum need to come off?

 

yes and its easier and recomended u remove it u dont want any aluminum shavings in ur intake system. theres a couple guys with some good tutorials on how to port match. check neals engine rebuilt he has pics posted of his ported intake plenum.. i did same time mine also

 

I seen u ported ur maf and plenum. could u see a noticable gain wih that.

you need to port the plenum to match the t-body to see any real benefits over stock.

My MAF is plastic so I can't see any real portwork going on there!

 

yeh my style had the large tube that ran through the middle porting it did show a noticable gain. but i got lucky and didnt have any CEL's. but if u port urs u will likely need a custome tune to compensate for it. but most people just got with a granatelli

 

yeah, im with faster150 on this one. Pull it off it doesnt take that long and you can port the whole thing without any worries of getting shavings in your engine. I did mine and it helped alittle and I had a stock tb that I did some work on. Open up the mouth to match the new tbody and gasket. Then if you want remove alittle on the inside to smooth out the radius. Dont take out to much or you can slow down the velocity. Have fun, the best mods are the free ones.
