What are some good plug wires?

First-yes, I searched, but didnt find anything I was looking for.

Anyway-Ive been having this stumbling effect when I hit the gas, and sometimes just at a constant speed (like 60mph). Ive changed the fuel filter and plugs, but not the plug wires yet-which Im assuming is my problem.

So, what does everyone recomend for plug wires (99 4.6). Troyer Perf. has Accel and JBA wires for 100 bucks a set. Should I go with them, or is there something better(that doesnt cost over about 130 bucks a set).

Thanks

I would also be curious about this subject, anyone ever heard of nology wires? Like $260 a set. Are they worth it?

When I was searching I found some info on those and read they arent worth it. Not really any better than a 100 dollar set.

I have gone through a couple sets of wires with my 97 4.6. The absolute best so far have been the Taylor wires I have on now. They are not cheep but less then you quoted above. They really have a nice "snap" when you put them on and I have had no missfire problem since putting them on.

Most sets will work fine when you first install them. Few last as long as the Motorcraft. That said, I recently bought a "lifetime Guarantee" set from AutoZone for less than $60. If they ever fail, they'll replace them. They seem to work pretty well, so far.

Has anyone ever tried splicing spark plug wires? If so how did you do it and what were the results? Don't laugh, I want to try it on a chain saw I have. The wire is a bit too long and rubbed against the exhaust, melting it. The other end is internally connected to a ignition module. New wire and module $80.00. New saw $90.00 <G>

Personally I have always bought the Accel kit so I could cut them to the length I want them. Summit sells it and it comes with the contact tips and boots..I have only used them on pre 1990's vehicles but I am sure they make them for the newer stuff.....Just follow the directions in the package and you will be fine.. Nothing like a nice set of custom fit wires.....

Well, I was w/ a buddy lookin at a truck and ran back to the parts department. Before the parts man told me the price, a mechanic walked by and goes "better be sittin down"....................145 dollars. I just stared, "yeeaahhh, I dont think so".

So unless anyone knows of a site that has them cheaper, no Motorcraft for me.

Im going to search for those wires yall mentioned, If nothing else, Ill probably end up with the JBA wires from Troyer along with a few other things.

Thanks
