Engine fault code P1506
Hi, I hope someone can help me with this code. I just bought a 97 F150 with a
4.2L Saturday when I bought the truck there was no check engine light showing. When I picked up the truck on Sunday and started it the check engine light came on I had the the truck in for emission testing and it came back with this code. The dealer told me the would check the truck out if the
check engine light didn't go out. Buy the way the truck passed emissions and
the tech told me it is not an emission code. Does anybody know what the code means.

From the manual:
P1506 - Idle Air Control (IAC) Overspeed Error
This DTC is set when the PCM detects engine idle speed that is greater than the desired rpm.
Possible Causes:
IAC circuit short to GND
Damaged IAC valve
Diagnostic Aides:
Disconnect IAC valve and look for little or no change in engine rpm as an indication of a stuck or damaged valve.
