I have never looked at a dipstick on any of my cars. They are not reliable.. The 04 and up 5.4 take 7 quarts, this is for better cooling. Older models took 6 and 5. You should never fill you oil a whole quart over, this is over filling no matter what your dipstick says. Im shure your crank is just spinning in oil which is bad for hp and it adds air to your oil, now alittle bit over is ok, i put a extra half quart in my cobra because on hard cornering they are known to have oil starvation, and if it wasn't for that it would have the 6 it requires. my other vehicles will allways get the exact amount needed. There is nothing good from it and there are alot of bads...so why do it i would rather be a quart low.
