I have a '96 f-150 xl and it comes with the 4.9 staight 6. Is there anything I can do performance wise with this motor? How long does this motor typically last cause the truck has over 230k miles on it and the motor still sounds great and is very strong. Never been rebuilt. Also I have O2 problems and can only locate 3 o2 sensors and yet the autoparts place says there are 4 where is the other one at?

 

That is one of the best dam motors ford ever made! Only 230K miles? Just gettin broke in... hahahaha They go on like diesels.

I've heard of 350k + on these motors ...just do the maintenance ..i'll second the request for info on getting any more performance out of these motors i've only got 118k on mine and a whole lot of that is pulling a 18' bass boat around still at times a little more in the as### end would be nice..

 

the ony 100% sure way to get more power out of any engine is to build it and get some kind of forced induction, supercharger or turbocharger. will defentily cost $$$ but if you build it right, it will last forever.
