my mpg seems to low

just wondering what everyone else is getting, and if you think mine is low.

i have a 2003 f150 ext cab 5.4 4x4, w/ 28k miles

for the past 6 months i've been getting 15.5 mpg, drive 25 minutes to work on back country roads, couple stop signs 1 or two lights.

now i do have mods and i do run 93 octane
cold air
magnaflow exhaust
efans
pullies
1715
dont notice rich smelling ehaust. Also if i drive it nicely i get about the same mileage as if i drive it like a maniac. ANY THOUGHTS?

15.5 - I wish I was getting that. Mine is averaging 13.5.

If that's what you consider "low mpg" for a #5000 brick then get a Honda!! ha, ha......

Consider yourself very LUCKY if that's the average mpg you are getting with an F150.....

On a side note, that's about what I get with mine.... I have an 18 mile drive to work each day and 18 mile drive home.... 15 miles of that is hwy each way. If I go out to lunch, that's another 6 miles or so round trip. I get an ave of 15 mpg.

On a recent 250 mile round trip, 99% hwy run, I made it a point to stay at around 60 mph max and I got 18 mpg on that single run! I've made the same run and ran at 65 mph max and I got around 16 mpg.....

Now, when I hitch up the trailer in my sig, I'm happy when I get 10 mpg!!

Mitch

I have an 03 F150 V6, lifted running on 37's. I have an air intake, Superchip, exhaust and regeared to 4.56's. I get between 13-16 mpg. I'm thinking of adding e-fans.

With my '03 Supercrew 4X4, 5.4, 3:73 LS, I'm averaging around the 16mpg mark. 22 miles, one way, to work. Mixture of rural roads and city driving.

Stock everything.

And from what I've read here over the last several weeks, I'm feeling really good about that.

These trucks are big and heavy. 'Specially these Supercrews.

I do like the way they handle, the comfort, and the power.

Close to 12 without regearing and running 35's for now. 38's will come to complement the new lift and new gears. Will see how much it changes.

Let me just say one more thing on this subject, how you drive has a large affect on mpg.

As an example with my truck, over the course of 17 tank fulls, I've had anywhere from 15.3 to 16.7 mpg. With the average being 15.9.

Now, I let my wife use the truck while her Odyssey was in the shop and when I calculated mpg from the tank she used, it only came to 14.3 mpg. I was shocked as this tank didn't *fit* into what I was seeing through all the others. It boiled down to her driving habits. Her foot slams both pedals. :o

I have the same truck, with similar miles, I get 15 mpg maybe a little less. I do have the 3.55 LS rear though.
The 93 octane is a complete waste of money.

Thats actually pretty good. I average somewhere between 13 and 14MPG.
Usually I dip into the 12 MPG range if I do any in town driving.

I get just under 14mpg most days. Sometimes 12.9 sometimes a little better in my 01 Screw. I need to replace the O2s add e-fans, and keep my foot out of it.

I need to replace my upstream O2's and do a throttle body cleaning. I think this might improve my gas milage...we'll see.

dsp921: The 93 octane gas my be required due to quagmeyer having a 1715 Programmer. You are right though, using 93 when not required is a waste of money.

Three of my superchip programs require that I use 93 octane.

Missed that part, 93 may not be a waste after all. Guess I should have read the mod list more closely...thanks for pointing that out.
