Question Cold air VS K&N

The past couple of weeks my dad and i have been discussing the difference between cold air intake and a replacement K&N filter. He says the cold air is a joke and i shouldnt spend my money on it because it does the same thing as the K&N. Someone please back me up on this and tell him the difference between the two and what the benefits are!
thank you

Cold air intakes are less restrictive and they flow better than the stock intake.

Simply using drop-in filters only reduces part of the restriction.

most cold air intakes suck in more hot air then the stock intake... its best to spend the extra money and get a volant or some other company that uses a composite heat resistant material for intake system. wrather then aluminum which conducts and holds heat well.
