When to replace Fun Clutch?
When to replace Fan Clutch?
Hey gang,
I have 01 F-150 supercrew 5.4L OT 4x4 with about 58K on her. How many miles should I have on the engine before I replace the fan clutch?

Any where from 1 to 500,000 miles.
There is no set milage. When the clutch goes you replace it. There is actually a procedure in the shop manual to test the clutch if you are interested.

Fan Clutch
Hi,
I never replaced mine, my truck have 125K miles.
If you notice the temperature higher than normal. Take out the belt and verify if the clutch is too loose, if it rotates easily, that can be a condition.
What the purpose of your question, are you having any failure?
Good luck

The electric fans basically reduce the parasitic loss caused by the engine turning the 10-lbs of clutch and fan. It doesn't increase the Hp, but it does reduce the net horsepower loss through the drivetrain, thereby increasing the 'seat of the pants' power. It generally yields anywhere from 11-14 Hp at the rear wheels.
Benefits: Increased Hp at the wheels, quicker acceleration, engine revs more freely, ice cold AC in heavy stop-and-go traffic, ability to defeat the fans for deep water crossings, ability to override the temp controller for fast cool-downs..... That's all that comes to mind.

Does it comes with all the neccesary brackets for mounting?
Can it be installed on a body lifted truck?

www.troyerperformance.com, www.flex-a-lite.com are the two big ones here. I've heard the LFP makes one as well, but haven't seen one myself, and don't know where to find them.
FAL comes with a shroud and all the mounting brackets. Troyer's kit mounts right through the radiator core itself (which I didn't like personally). Can't speak for the LFP kit.
Any of them work fine on out trucks, body lift or not. Since you will remove the shroud and fan anyways, the position of the body (and, therefore, the radiator and fans) with respect to the engine doesn't make any difference.
Any more questions?

You'll likely want to go with the Troyer fans. Mike T. called me last night and BS'd for over an hour. I'm the pickiest MF on here and I went with his kit. It's all mil-spec, water proof, loomed, etc. Tell him you're an F-150online member for a nice discount.
