First time Ford pickup owner!

Hey all. I'm wanting to buy a 2000 F150 with 125,000 (mostly)highway miles on it. I've looked at several trucks and Ford is the best looking by far! At the right price should I be concerned with the miles?

I would try to find out if the original owner(s) maintained it regularly. Did they change oil regularly every 3k-5k miles? How about the tranny? At 125k miles it should have had the fluid changed about 3 or 4 times already. It would really help if you could get the maintenance records from those owners. It would basically prove without a doubt they took care of it, but pay attention to records that address a repeating problem. Especially when it comes to engine or tranny problems. Of course, these things should be checked out when you buy any vehicle. There will probably be other replies to your question here, so keep watching your post. There are some pretty savvy (and opinionated) guys that visit here regularly. Welcome!

Thanks for the info. I'm just curious as to how many miles a Ford motor is good for? The last Ford I owned had 180K on it when sold in 1988. Are they still as good? Sparky
