Warranty

I just purchased a 2004 f150 with 10K. Can anyone recommend any good extended warranty websites? I had the extracare with my 01 and it didnt cover jack. I want the premium and have seen prices around $1,300 for 7/100K. Thanks.

I strongly recommend Ford premium care. It will cover pretty much bumper to bumper for whatever mileage you want. We always have problems with aftermarket companies not paying. Ford hardly bats an eye with premium care. Extra care is only minimal coverage.

I personally don't care for "extended warranties".... They usually are not actual "warranties", as they will only cover a total failure for the most part..... You do have to read the fine print very closely and know what you are buying and what they will and won't cover.

It's not like if your engine starts to knock or run rough that "extended warranty" is going to do anything about it.... Even when you have a total failure, I'll bet they will run you thru so much red tape that you'll end up being glad to pay for the part yourself! Probably will have to anyway, as they will look for any reason to deny the claim...

I used to work for GE Capital in the legal department and one of the 'new' endeavors they got into was "extended auto warranties"..... It was one of the most profitable divisions they had at the time......

IMO, it's all a gamble anyway..... No "extended warranty" on life, so take what you get and deal accordingly....

Good luck!

Mitch

I agree with, Mitch.

Keep your vehicle serviced and maintained at recommended intervals.

Odds are better that you got a premium vehicle than a lemon.

Always bet in your favor.

IMHO
Extended Warranties are profit centers for the dealers and those who sell them. I had 1, and found that they will fight tooth and nail, NOT to pay out. They can be very restrictive, and most experts agree that the odds are WAY in favor of the house on that bet.

Extended warranty is just like term life insurance you are betting that you are going to die and the company is betting that you are going to out live the term. Most of the time they win, otherwise they would not be in business.

I had the extracare on my 01 and it covered nothing. I can just about take apart a 4.6 now though. I love doing maintenace so I probably won't get one. Thanks for the replies.
