some motor questions

I have asked this before on here but I want to clearify everything. I have a 89 f150 4x4. It has an auto tranny with a 302 FI motor.

I also have lying around a 360 motor. I know that the ac, ps and all the other pullys will not change over from my 302 to the 360. But if my motor is FI and the 360 is carborated, can't I just take off the manifold (I think thats what its called, the metal plate where the FI/carborator are bolted in) and change it to a FI one. I'd say put mine on there but since nothing else will change, I am guessing the manifold (or what ever its called) won't either.

ALSO, what about the trannies. I know that mine won't bolt up to the 360 but, is there anyway I can change the bell housings to make it bolt up?

anything will work with a little will power ...a "fe" series engine will not fit in a '89 without a lot of work...those later year trucks have fuel injection..computers..that sort of thing ...to put in a carburated engine also means no more stock electric fuel pump ..the carb will not handle the pressure..electrical sensors are all over a '89 that would not be related to a carburated engine and all that sort of thing and i dont think you can get a efi manifold(not yet) for a "fe" anything anyway...get a 460 from a '89 out of a scrapyard and really have some fun ...zap!

will a 460 mount up or is there going to have to be some "work"??

Also will everything from my 302 bolt up to the 460?

If you don't know much about trucks and engines, your best bet is to stick with a 302. A 351W will bolt in and use all the same accessories and brackets, but will still require some additional "work" to complete the install.
