Cold Air Intakes. Advice please.

I was thinking of getting a cold are intake or air charger, something from K&N, It is only about 10-15 more hosepower I heard, and I imagine even less. I was wondering if this would be helpful for my engine and save up some fuel. I believe the engine should get as air much as possible without it being forced in by a supercharge or turbo unless the engine is forged. I have a friend put the Lighten Super Charger on his stock navigator and cooked the engine in a year. I have been using a K&N high floew air filter, and noticed a difference when I put it in. I could tell the truck was breathing a lot better. Would an air charger or cold air intake have the same effect on the engine althougth it would take more time. ANy benefits and negitvies would be appricated.

Do a search on intakes. There are dozens of types, and hundreds who support each.

I doubt that the supercharger cooked his engine unless he made errors in installation, tuning, or monitoring the engine.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of guys on this site (myself included) who run blowers with no problems. Many are Lightening blowers on otherwise stock 5.4 engines. No problems.

But if you screw up the A/F mixture, the timing, or many other variables, melting an engine is quite possible.

Don't do it if you are not willing to do it right and monitor your engine.
