Worried about problems after Head Gasket Replacement
I had my head gasket replaced last week on my 2003 Supercrew, due to an oil leak. It was covered by the warranty (32,000 miles on it now). I'm worried about problems developing, since the engine was removed in order to replace the gasket. Anyone else had to have this done? I drive from Massachusetts to South Florida a couple times a year and I don't want to be a long way from home and have the truck %$#@ the bed.
I'm probably worrying for nothing, but thought I'd ask anyway.

If the replacement was done correctly then you'll have nothing to worry about. I've pulled an engine out of an F150 before to replace it before and it's not really as horrible as you might imagine.
I wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks - I had it done at a very large dealership, so they probably do a lot of them. I guess I just started wondering if they had left over bolts when they finished
or if taking it apart could break other seals that will start leaking too. Their statement said that they had replaced manifold gaskets a valve cover gasket and the serpentine belt (had oil on it).
I just got a letter from Ford yesterday about buying an ESP - would this be wise, considering the work thats been done.

I'm a big fan of the FMC ESPs. Especially with the track record the transmissions have.
I recommend the 6/100 powertrain warranty. It doesn't cover all the green stuff like EGR, DPFE, etc. or the "consumable" items, but it does cover pretty much everything from the radiator fan to the rear wheels.
