Tow Package?

How can I check to see if a '97-'98 truck has a factory installed tow package?

Look At The Wire Harness It Will Give You A Good Idea If Someone Spliced It In . Factory Wire Harness Will Be All Wired In Together

If you have two small coolers in front of the radiator on the bottom then you have the tow package. One is a transmission cooler, the other I believe is an oil cooler.

The good factory tow package has the 7 pin trailer connector, transmission cooler, higher battery capacity and possibly a two row radiator.
Mine didnot so I put all those in but the larger battery capacity.
I tow over 11,000 lbs total weight.

I have the factory installed towing package on my truck.It includes;
130 amp alternator,p/s cooler,trans cooler,heavy duty cooling system,which includes fan clutch and radiator,oil cooler,Reese type hitch,and 7 pin trailer connection. I dont tow anything but its good to know I have it in case I need it.

Well, depends on what engine you have too...... If you have the 5.4, an aux trans cooler and oil cooler are standard equip. I do believe that all F150's have the P/S cooler, no matter what the engine. You get a 'bigger' aux trans cooler with the tow package on the 5.4.

Most obvious tell will be the factory 7 pin connector and frame mounted hitch. No brand name on the hitch and the connector will have a Ford part number on it.

If you have the 4.6 or 4.2 AND you have the aux trans cooler (mounted in front on the pass side), then it has the tow package.

The other items are the higher amp alternator, HD shocks (worthless), depending on the year, a two core rad and the additional relays and fuses for the under the hood fuse box. You also get the brake controller pig tail that plugs in under the dash and you splice into the brake controller of your choice.
