engine chirp

Hello - joined the group today. I have a loud chirping noise in my engine that appears to be coming from the passenger side upper portion. I have a 5.4 V8 Triton (1999 F150 Supercab XLT). I was told first that this was really a starter issue, but after being at the dealership for 4 days I was told that the they "believe" I have a valve that needs reworked or a complete cylinder head needing replaced. Has anyone else had this issue? It is really frustrating -- would welcome any helpful email

Chirping sound may indicate a spun bearing. Bearing spins and can't get oil. Not sure if those heads have cam bearings or not.

About chirping noise

MY 97 4.6 had a similar noise in it. It sounded like a bird. I noticed that sometimes when I would stop the engine the noise would kind if fade away as the engine shut doun. Seems that I had a loose spark plug!! the compression was leaking around the threads and as the air went past the spark plug boot(which we know fits very tight) it would make the chirp. Tightened up the plug and no more chirp.
