Exclamation Check Engine Light!!

I just purchased a 1995 F150, V8 5.0, Standard transmission w/ 133,000 miles. The question is the Check Engine light keeps coming on for no apparent reason. Sometimes I think it is happening when I get up to 55-70mph then other times it comes on just driving around town. It never comes on for the same amount of time! The dealership said they thought that it was an O2 sensor or some sort of gas (reclaiming leftover gas) sensor and that it was all cleared up! Well wouldn't you know I got about 2 miles from the dealership and the light was on and they seem unsure why it is happening and keep telling me it's no big deal...it is probably just a faulty sensor...ANY IDEAS? thanks-

Can't really help you unless you tell us what the codes are. If it's on, go to Autozone or Advance or somewhere and have them pull the codes for you (it's usually free).

check engine light

The trouble with this is it always shuts off when the vehicle slows or is stopped.

I believe that it should still store a code. Even though the light goes out the code will still be in the computer. There is a different kind of code reader for vehicles before '96. I'm not sure of AutoZone or others can read the codes or not? It can't hurt to give them a try

CHECK engine light

It had a stored trouble code saying it was the EGR valve? They cleaned it once already...does this mean it needs replaced? Or something worse?
