adding second fuel tank

Hello all,

I have searched this forum for an answer with no luck. I have a 1992 F150 that I would like to add a second gas tank to. How difficult is that and where can I find schematics / parts list needed to accomplish this. I know I need the extra tank and fill tube but what about the fuel supply/return, pumps, check valve and electrical

Thanks

kwbrew

The best advice I could give you is to find a dual tank truck and look at it. This may sound a bit silly, but if you could pick up a wrecked truck cheap get the stuff you need then get rid of it or find one in a junk yard and just take everything you might be better off if you want it all stock.

Just a thought

since you have a 92, first get realy familiar with your fuel system, if it's fuel injected, i would just find a tank to fit the location on the truck where you want to put it, plumb its fuel pump into your stock filler neck to just transfer fuel out of it and into your stock tank that way you dont have to mess with your stock fuel system. then wire an on/off switch and a seperate dedicated aux fuel gauge. regardless i agree with wvtrucker, hit the junk yards. i did one on a carberated 71, with a 390 but thats a diferent animal than a fuel injected rig, you just by the right fuel selector from an RV supply place and follow the directions. but fuel injected rigs get funny when you mess with thier fuel delivery systems, when a loose gas cap can trip a check engine light
