Try this surefire method to determine if you have LS:

Park truck in garage.
Jack up 1 wheel to clear the floor.
Jump in truck and start motor.
Rev engine to limit and put in gear.
If you are still in the garage, you do NOT have LS.
If you (and the truck) are now inside your house, you DO have LS.

I have an open rear dif but sometimes can spin both tires if it raining both tires will spin if I nail ther gas from a light or in snow and ice conditions when both tires can spin easly now on dry pavement only one spins and it seems to be the left rear that spins 90% of the time I figured it would be the right rear that would spin the most because less weight is on that side but for some reason its the left rear on my truck that wants to spin most of the time when I nail the gas ftom a stand still start which is every chance I get when I'm first in line at stoplights and every time I take off from a 4 way stop unless a cop is around.

CHECK BY LOOKING AT THE METAL TAG MOUNTED ON THE REAR DIFF !
3L55 MEANS 3.55 LIMITED SLIP IF THERE ISNT A L BETWEEN THE 355 THEN YOU DONT HAVE LIMITED SLIP ....

Lots of great info here...but crap!!!! I've got the 3:55 open rear end . How will this effect driving in the snow/slush. I have four wheel drive, but the way the roads are up here, they can go from just being wet to slush or snow and ice covered in stretches. AAARRGG....I hate winter!!!!

It means that even though the shiny sticker on your truck says "4x4" and the *** is turned to 4hi, your truck will only spin 2 tires at a time (1 front, 1 back) and it will spin the tires with the least amount of traction. But, your truck will make it up snowy hills faster and straighter than my 2wd with a LS.

You'll be fine. I've gone almost entire winters up here without using the 4wd and I usually only used it then when I was either off-road or trying to break through a snowplow bank. Granted I have the LS rear. Make sure you have decent tires and common sense and not necessarily in that order.
