I pour it into a 5 gal jerry can that I have. When it was full I used to take it to the city dump's recycle center and empty it into their container. I am using the past tense becasue I just read in today's paper that the recycle center burned down yesterday.

Back on the farm we used it to soothe burns when branding cattle. Never had much leftover, but we dumped some on the roads to try and keep the dust down from the oil tanker trucks driving through.

Our recycle center provides 3 to 5 gallon clear plastic jugs. When I get 5 or 6 full, I take them to the recycle center and get more jugs. Pouring your used oil on the ground can contaminate the water in the underground aquifers. Where I live in west Tennessee, most of our water comes from wells and it only takes a small amount of oil or gasoline to contaminate a lot of water. I work with water systems and recently one of the systems had to build a $600,000 treatment plant because their wells were contaminated with gasoline, probably from an abandoned underground tank. Several water systems have had to install air strippers to remove petroleum products.

Me and my GF use it to have hot kinky sex.....

Not really, I just dump it at work. They sell all the old oil and use it in the heaters.

I save several changes worth of oil in a 5-gallon container and when it's full take it down to one of the local oil change places to dispose it.

Jiffy Lube will always take it without question, but I prefer taking it to one particular local place because the "angry old man" who owns the place always tries to blow me off and tells me he won't take it. Then I remind him that he is legally required to take it, and he get's all PO'd and bitches like a you-know-what while he dumps my oil and filters in his bin!

I somehow get a sick thrill out of ruining this grumpy old SOB's day!

I believe he is only legally obligated to take it if he sold it to you in the first place. Most places do not care and if they sell oil they will take the old oil from anybody.

Anyone that does not properly dispose of their oil is destroying the environment for their children, grandchildren etc.

I have family and friends in the auto repair business. They get paid for the old oil, and therefore happily take mine.

I have a CRF450R and change the oil every two rides. Amazing that I go through more oil in my dirt bike than a V8 truck.

I burn it for smoke screens and practiving my smoke signaling.

Actually I usually have it changed at a local shop, need to do it myself though , $50 a pop gets expensive.

Keep it in a 5 gallon sealed pail until I bring it to the town dump. They have a waste oil burner and let us "fill their" tank all year long. Saves the town some money on heating cost and provides a safe way to dispose of oil.

I take it to AutoZone. Sometimes they are full, so I wait and bring it later.
I used to bury it in the ground, but it caused earthquakes!
