Will not start

I have a 2000 Explorer and it will not start unless I press my foot on the accelerator pedal. As long as I am pressing on the gas pedal all is well---------when I let up on the pedal the engine dies. What is wrong here???

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

It runs good as long as there is slight pressure on the gas pedal---- let up on the gas and it will not idle, just dies

If that motor has an IAC which I don't know if it does,
then give the IAC a good whack with a blunt object.
If it idles after that, then you got a fouled IAC.
Replace or clean, if in fact that motor has one, which I don't know if it does.

You might have a vacuum leak. That would explain the stall at idle. Have you done anything to the engine just before it developed the symptoms?
