Fuel Problem / 89' f-150 5.0
I can't seem to locate my book to get info on even how to check my trouble codes.. A link to someplace with that info would be great...
Anyway.... My truck one night just started acting as if it was running out of gas. Put gas in, no help... Changed fuel filter, no help....
I'm stupid when it comes to anything using sensors for this and that and don't have a clue as to what sensors do what....
Anyway, when I start the truck, the idle will kick up to about 1500 rpm and when it drops down to normal (within a few seconds) it will sometimes just stall out or if it does keep running, and I try to rev it up a bit, it will fall on its face bad... Also, when it does manage to stay running after starting, it will still eventually stall.... Just takes a few minutes...
Another note, when it idles, it idles smooth like there is no problem....
I haven't done any recent motor work to the truck but about a month ago I did have a new O2 sensor and duel exhaust installed. Also for reference, I my front tank has a leak but I am not using it and my rear tank has been replaced about a year ago along with the fuel pump in the tank.
I've considered the possibility of a cracked line since the back end of the truck when off of a couple foot drop off a couple hours before the problem started, but it would seem to me that the problem would have started at that moment... (small note about the back tank - the person I bought the truck from installed that tank and pinched a line off when putting the skidplate back on. I only loosened a bolt to unpinch it and left it as is. Tank has worked great since doing that but didn't work before doing it. This was about 2 months ago when I found the pinched line.)
Ok, enough rambling... Hopefully someone can help me or at least get me starting in the right direction...

fuel problems
get online and search for Ford F-150 recalls for your year. Ford had a problem with dual gas tanks check valves. But you mentioned the rear tank had the fuel pump replaced. It might be the fuel pump needs replacing again.
