What wrench to remove center 5.8 manifold bolt.
What wrench to remove center 5.8 manifold bolt.
I have to pull the upper/lower manifolds off to fix a coolant leak. I have 5 of the 6 bolts out but can't see what the bolt in the center needs. This one is accessed through a gap in the aluminum "runners". Is it a hex or what? Anyone know.....
While I'm at it I might as well change out the injectors as this '90 5.8 has 240,000 miles on it!!! Do I just go with stock or aftermarket injectors? How much for a set?
Thanks,
Lance

la350 i had to do mine on my 94 5.0 this is what i did the 3/8 torx bit #40 would not fit inbetween the manifold opening the socket portion was to fat, and i could not find a#40 torx in 1/4 inch drive.so i went and found the cheapest set of torx bits in 3/8 drive to use the #40 bit, i used my angle grinder and cut the socket part of the bit, one line down each side and it poped right apart exsposing the torx now smear some grease on the end of the torx and chuck this into a 1/4 drive 1/4inch deepwell the grease will hold the bit in the socket and go to town............
Get an extra long T-40 socket. S-K makes 5 and 8 inch long versions of the T-40, T-45, and T-50. They also make a 5 incher in T-30. S-K extended bit sockets
Now would be a good time to replace the distributor o-ring as well. One thing I like to do during intake jobs on small block Fords: Toss the crappy little gaskets for the front and rear of the intake. Run a bead of Ultra Black RTV about 3/8" thick or so instead.
